We had a great idea for a fun anniversary weekend. We went to the wine country of Arkansas. On Friday night, we ate at the Grapevine Restaurant and stayed at the Cowie Inn Bed and Breakfast in Paris, AR. It was so nice! We had our own little courtyard and private entrance into our suite. The next morning, we went down to the winery and met the owner. He showed us his bell collection and the chapel he is building on the property. So beautiful!
Then we drove into Altus and went to Weinkeller's Village. We went to the tavern there to eat and ate their $20 fondue! It was good, but not what I expected. Then we walked the grounds, went to a wine tasting, and headed to St. Mary's church. Talk about gorgeous!
We left there and went to Post Familie Winery for a tour and wine tasting. Then we drove to check in our hotel and rested a while (my allergies were starting to bother me). I had read about an Irish pub online and we tried to find it in Altus. The second place we entered was IT! The food was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! The owners were a married couple...she waited tables, and he cooked food (literally, a stove was in the corner of the room!). I had a piece of fish, coated in mayo and rolled in cracker crumbs. YUMMY!!!
We left there, ran by the store for chocolate, cokes, and sinus allergy meds and then headed back to the hotel.
It was so relaxing to not be on a schedule. We headed home to get ready for our family pictures that evening.
